Community Resilience to Climate Effects

Based in Seattle, Sphere One takes a grassroots approach to
achieving environmental justice – working in underserved
communities to…

  • create awareness of good clean energy jobs
  • provide the training to qualify for jobs
  • expand access to zero-emission electricity in the communities that are disproportionately affected by the negative health and economic impacts of climate change

Inclusive Workforce Development

Sphere One is creating access to clean energy careers for people of color, women, and those with economic disadvantages through a variety of inclusive workforce development programs. From outreach events and career workshops to job skills training and placement into entry level positions, Sphere One is out in historically marginalized communities offering a pathway to the growing number of jobs in electrification, solar, and clean technologies in both the skilled trades and business professions.

Solar Equity

Sphere One supports community-led efforts to adopt solar by providing assistance with navigating funding opportunities and technical expertise to make clean energy systems a reality. Solar arrays on the roofs of tribal buildings, community centers, and food banks in Seattle and Washington state have yielded substantial savings on electricity bills while reducing carbon emissions and harmful air pollution. Once the solar panels are up and running, Sphere One provides an educational workshop on-site to learn about solar fundamentals and clean energy career opportunities.
