MARK MENDEZ President

Mark Mendez is a dedicated leader committed to empowering youth and communities through various initiatives. He has worked for and collaborated with numerous non-profit and government organizations, as well as local businesses. Mark is an alumnus of both the University of Washington and Seattle University.

Youth Development and Community Engagement
As a champion for young people, Mark focuses on the safety and development of youth and teens in afterschool programs, with a particular emphasis on BIPOC and underserved youth. He connects them with vital growth opportunities. Mark is the visionary behind the "Young Leaders" program, designed to support underserved youth.

He also spearheaded the "Lake City Murals Project," an initiative that brings pride to underserved communities through public art. This project not only beautifies neighborhoods but also supports local businesses and artists, all while actively involving youth. Both the "Young Leaders" program and the "Lake City Murals Project" underscore the importance of civic participation, leadership, career exploration, and public art, helping participants develop crucial soft and social skills while improving their communities.

Global Impact and Clean Energy Advocacy
Mark's dedication extends beyond local communities. Following Hurricane Maria in 2017, he co-founded Solarize Puerto Rico with friends. This non-profit partnered with Sphere to solarize a school in Puerto Rico, making it 100% energy self-sufficient. This school now stands as a beacon of environmental sustainability and energy independence.

For over a decade, Mark has collaborated with Sphere, leading solar energy education workshops at community centers and mentoring youth interested in exploring opportunities in the growing clean energy sector.
