As a senior at Lindbergh High School in Renton, Leah learned about Sphere’s internship during a presentation in her construction class. After finding out more about sustainability-related careers in the electrical and clean energy industry, she joined Sphere to explore these pathways in greater depth. Although Leah was the only intern still in high school, she excelled, strengthening her hands-on technical skills in soldering wire, bending conduit, solar panel installation, using hand/power tools, and safety awareness. She also enhanced her presentation/public speaking and interviewing skills, helping her become ready for the workforce before graduating. Going on site visits of solar arrays and a water treatment plant increased her understanding of environmental management and has contributed to her desire to pursue a career involving sustainable building or utilities such as architecture or engineering - fields that would compliment her talents at drawing and working with her hands. Leah’s favorite part about the internship was getting to know new people and creating bonds with them because she loves meeting new people, especially from different backgrounds from her own. In her spare time Leah likes to draw, read, care for her three turtles and runs a small tiktok page where she posts her art work.
